Shivling Peak Expedition a Twin Summit Mountain in India

Shivling Peak Expedition, a twin summit mountain is considered one of the most beautiful peaks in the Indian Himalayas. A very high elevation of 6543 meters above the sea level, Mt Shivling is perched in the Gangotri valley of Garhwal Himalayas. Tapovan is the Base camp of Mt. Shivling Expedition and this is the most loved Trek in Uttarakhand.

The meaning of Tapovan is a holy quiet place, where sages meditate for spirituality. It is a high altitude meadow at a height of 4,500 m and it lies on the bank of large Gangotri glacier and at the base of lofty Shivling peak. There is one most beautiful Amer Ganga.


Shivling Peak Expedition – “Indian Matterhorn”


The mountain top resembles Shiva Lingam, it has also been called “Indian Matterhorn” because of its unique shape. The front part can be seen from Gomukh which resembles Ganesha’s face. It’s a technically challenging expedition and it should only be tried by expert mountaineers.

  • During the trek, proper conditioning & training of the body is required.

  • Also, need proper gear & clothing for sub-zero temperature

  • Furthermore, shoes are the single most important equipment.

  • High Altitude requires proper acclimatization.

  • Beautiful landscapes so carry good photo gear & Extra battery backup.

  • And, the backpack should not exceed 15 kg.

  • Alcohol and smoking are not allowed in during the Expedition need to proper knowledge of technical claiming equipment

  • Best Time: – After 2nd week of May, June, September, and October

  • Group Size: – Need to Minimum Group sized 4 people maximum, 10 people.
